Gistihúsið – Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir is a family run hotel with 50 rooms, 120 seat restaurant, Eldhúsið, and the Baðhúsið Spa.

We have 14 members of staff all year around and 36 on the summer.

The restaurant seats up to 120 guests. An attractive golden-age meeting lounge in the basement provides seating for another thirty guests.
Our Eldhúsið – Restaurans kitchen’s mission is ambition and quality. As the hotel itself, its cusine is rooted in solid tradition but the ingredients are now introduced with subtle changes and serves its meals with a new perspective which results in memorable culinary experiences.
We value the quality of ingredients. Most of it is Icelandic and grown locally. We are proud of our Icelandic agriculture and want to introduce those nearest to us by applying their products. The three course meal “Farm Food Direct” is the kitchens pride on its menu.

The restaurant is open all year round.
The chef has to be able to work independedly and of course to cook good food. Experience in working in a la carte restaurants is vital.
The person would have to be able to start as soon as possible. This could either be a position for a whole year or a certain amount of time (sommer season).
All staff members have free food during working hours and the accomodation is for free.

Lake hotel has 4 chefs working there the whole year around and 40 to 50 staff members during the summertime. In the wintertime the number goes down to 20.

- Salary for 172 working hours 330.000 krones (around 2.900,00 EURO). For overtime we pay extra.
